Our light and dance show is composed of three elements:

1. installation around the tree and in its crown so it can really be visited

2. performance of light which opens the way to a tree or a park

3. etude of dance in this illuminated space

The original idea
At summer season, a little quiet street not far from bus stop number 7., is full of green trees. During the evening it is very dark around there, the illumination of the street is hidden by the crown of the trees creating the feeling as if they were themselves lighting the street. When you take a walk on this street you have the sensation of being in a magical, enchanted forest.

I realised that this street creates this particular feeling in the evening because the trees embrace the lights of the street lanterns, and the light filters through the leaves creating a green scene and particular shadows everywhere.

I remained fascinated by this eagerness of the trees and the way they make themselves beautiful by night. I decided that I will place lights on the trees and will make magic on them using lights.

Lighting, light performance - concept

I work with lights in theatres, dance theatres as a lighting designer. I know it sounds strange but in this project we, with my colleagues and friends, have placed theatre lights on the trees.

I would like to show the trees and parks as they have probably never been seen before, but as they are really like: beautiful. This magical beauty is their true selves. I would like to shine light on deep, mystical and unique beauty in a living environment.

The light helps us guide the attention of the visitor and creates a magical sensation and mood. As an enchanting moving play of lights and trees the environment constantly changes and becomes alive.

Duet with the tree-dance

We imagined a duet with a tree and a young female dancer in a white dress. This dance and play of light is an offering, a gesture of thanksgiving. A dance with the tree, for the tree, in a fabled world.

Miss Kata Kovács a dance artist, finished the Budapest Dance Academy in 2007. She participated in various Hungarian and foreign performances as dancer and creator. Actually she is a freelance professional, has also worked in various dance films.

We live together with the trees of our city but we don't even realise their existence. It's time we stop for a second and realize the beauty of the trees. The goal of our open air performance is to raise attention to our forgotten, parks, the importance of our beautiful environment.

Installation on the street

On my mystic walk on this street I was thinking about how interesting and touching it would be to go and visit a tree, enter the crown of the tree as a guest.

Készítette: Berg Krisztián és Vida Zoltán

I imagined a platform where everybody would be able walk up the stairs and get a rest on a sofa. For some minutes or a little bit longer, it doesn't matter. Can drink a glass of wine, can think about the important things of life or just about anything. Or you can enjoy the silence and empty your thoughts and feel the quiet, calm power and wisdom of the tree.

The open-air installation can be visited and used 24 hours a day. The installation is made from recycled materials. The tree is surrounded by an environmentally friendly platform. It can be reached by stairs and on the top of the platform the visitor can relax on a sofa.
